Really quick question, can there be transparency in the logon screens? I've noticed some of the screens have the logon area (where you position the icons) have a transparent look to them, is this done thru true transparency, like WB5, or is it just made to look that way via the graphic?

Hope this is a clear question

Thanks..

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year...

Well got back to working on the phOS WindowBlind skin. You know I never realized how many graphical elements were needed for a WindowBlind to work, let's just say there are lots. All the different states of buttons, animations etc. it's mind blowing. I think I've opened up SkinStudio quite a few times and it is just confusing sometimes. Once I have the "concept" done and ready for skinning then I'll break out skinstudio and sit down and really try to figure it out. I'm having a great time working on phOS so far and I'm thinking it's coming out pretty darn cool. I just hope I can get it skinned so that Windows looks as good with a truely working skin.

I don't know how some of these really talented guys can whip these things out so fast, just the concept alone and the creation of all the images for all the different states are taking forever. But I figure the length of time it takes for such things is worth it in the end if it gets implamented and designed the right way.

Well I've updated the phOS concept that I have on my WC site Link. Check'er out and give any feedback you wish.

On a personal note, the family and I went to Georgia for Christmas to visit family and then took a drive over to Nashville, TN. Man is that a pretty ride, rolling hills lots of trees and change of color. Man so different from tabletop Florida. We're thinking of relocating to Tennessee to get away from the soaring costs down here. From what we saw the two days we were there, we like it. Looked at some houses and checked out some of the scenery. It'll be nice to have a change of season again :)

Well till next time... Take care...

I'm working on my skin for WB5 and I've got a question... Can I just have an "icon" for the shutdown/logoff options in the startmenu or do I have to also have the text ("logoff", "turn off computer")? I would like to have just 2 icons/graphics for them and no text at all. Is this possible?

Thanks..

Well finally I've started what I've wanted to do for quite a while and that is... create a Window Blinds skin. Now I've never skinned a single thing in my life. I'm more oriented towards web design and such, but never created a skin to freshen up the look of an OS much less one for a media player like Winamp. Oh I've thought about doing it plenty of times, even when I was a registered user during the early years of WindowBlinds, like the 1.x days. I let my registration lapse and haven't run it till recently when WindowBlinds 5 was released. I checked out the features and was like hmmm.. this looks interesting. So I ordered it and am very happy I did. It's alot less of a resource hog as it used to be when I ran it back in the day. Well anyways I'm very pleased with the way it's running and handling everything, very responsive and the per pixel windows are very nice. Brad and company did an awesome job on this release! Kudos!!!

Well back on topic, I'm working on my first WB5 skin which I'm titling ph/OS (well you should know where that's coming from). I've wanted to create a ph/OS skin for a long time and now I've finally started. I've started a concept of it on a canvas of 1024x768 to get a feel for the way it will look on Windows when it's done. So far I'm pleased with the concept. I've posted the concept (which isn't up to date) on my Wincustomize site (Link). Everything is in it's familiar location as far as the widgets along the titlebar and start menu. Since most people are accustomed to the min/max/close buttons being on the right hand side of the titlebar, I'm keeping them there. It's going to have subtle colors with a custom background and possibly a custom logon to go with it. We'll see..

Well I think I'm done with my first blog entry and I'll get back to working on ph/OS and see where it goes..

Take care!

I'm working on a skin for WB5 and I was wondering can the startmenu items "Logoff" and "Shutdown" be replaced with strictly graphics? I want to have a grphical representation of the "logoff" button and the "shutdown" button. I don't want any text in those spots.. I don't want text on the menu that reads "Logoff" or "Turn off Computer" etc..

Is this possible?

Thanks...

Ok since I'm new.. I've got a screenshot submission that I want to do that is a "skin" concept that I was doing for a program that is outside the WinCustomize realms called Vapour. Is it ok to post these screenshots to my personal wincustomize site?

Thanks...

I have a quick question. I'm trying to upload a screen of my concept for my WB skin I'm working on. I'm uploading it to my site here on WC. Now when I upload the 2 images, the thumb at 150x113 and the fullsize at 1024x768. Now after I've uploaded them and await approval I go look at it and the thumb is fine but the full size is the size of the thumb. Am I doing something wrong? Do I upload the same 1024x768 size twice and the server will resize the thumb? I know I'm screwing something up

Can anyone help?

I have a quick one for ya. I'm just now starting my first skin for WB5. I'm looking at the "new" dialog in Skinstudio and was wondering what is best to use for a WB5 compliant skin; UIS1, UIS2 or USF?

Thanks!

This is a concept I'm working on for my first WB skin. I was just wondering if what your thoughts are on it... Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

Also how is transparency handled, is it with the image or thru code in SB? THanks..

Will Bootskin ever be updated to support higher rez bootskins? I thought I remember reading that BootSkin was going to support up to 1024x768. Is this going to happen at any point?

Thanks..
